Guppies: Games and Goofiness

This lesson plan is repeatable and intended to be used over and over until you’ve built up a toolbox of custom games and activities for your specific pool layout.

I recommend that you offer Guppies classes explicitly stating that it is primarily a “games and fun” class intended to build water comfort and listening skills for young swimmers who are NOT ready yet for formal swimming lessons.

Typically Guppies are children that have been in Parent Tot for a few years but are still unsteady in the water or need a little bit more attention and care before they jump in learning front glides and going underwater.

Guppies is an excellent class to bridge between gaps in swimming lessons due to fear or anxiety.
